Privacy policy

1. Who we are

Sapide is published by Leader Web Sàrl, Switzerland. We are the controller for the limited processing described below.

2. What stays on your device

Your meals, food items, calories, macros, meal times, goals, favourites, custom meals, settings and meal photos are stored only in the app's private storage on your phone. They are not uploaded, not synchronised, and not readable by us.

Because there is no account and no cloud copy, deleting the app deletes this data permanently. Export it first if you want to keep it.

3. What is transmitted, and why

When you ask for a photo analysis, the app sends: the photo itself (downscaled and stripped of all metadata, including GPS, on your device); a hash of the image, used for fifteen minutes to avoid analysing the same photo twice; the local time, time zone and language, used to suggest a meal slot and answer in your language; up to twenty opaque food identifiers from your recent meals, used to bias identification toward foods you actually eat; and an anonymous install identifier used for the daily quota and to prevent abuse.

The photo is processed in memory for the duration of the request, forwarded to a vision model provider bound by a zero-retention agreement, and then discarded. It is never written to a disk on our side and never stored.

If you subscribe, the store's transaction identifier is sent so that we can verify the subscription with Apple or Google. We do not receive your payment details at any point.

4. What we never collect

We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, age, sex, height, weight, body measurements, health conditions, location, contacts, advertising identifiers, or any cross-app or cross-device identifier.

Because Sapide does not calculate calorie targets from your body, it has no reason to ask for body metrics — and it never asks. Analytics events never contain food names or meal contents.

5. Analytics

The app can send anonymous, aggregated usage events — for example that an analysis started, or that a meal was logged — to help us understand where the product is slow or confusing. These events carry no personal data and no food data.

Analytics can be switched off entirely in Settings, and doing so does not limit any feature.

6. Your rights

Under the GDPR, the Swiss FADP and comparable laws, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability.

In practice the app gives you most of these directly: export produces a complete copy of your data, and “Erase all data” in Settings deletes everything irreversibly. For the little we hold server-side — an anonymous install record and, if you subscribe, an entitlement record — write to privacy@sapide.app and we will act within thirty days.

7. Children

Sapide is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly process their data. Nutrition tracking is not appropriate for young children without professional supervision.

8. This website

This site is a set of static pages. It sets no advertising cookies and runs no third-party trackers. A single cookie may remember your chosen language, and the currency you pick on the pricing card stays in your browser.

Standard server logs may retain IP addresses briefly for security and abuse prevention.

9. Changes

If this policy changes materially, the app will tell you in Settings and the date above will be updated. Previous versions are available on request.
